Activewear is the most deceptively simple category in apparel sourcing: five product classes, one tight price corridor ($3–16.50), and a customization ladder that quietly doubles or triples unit cost as you climb it. Our October 2026 sampling of Made-in-China listings maps the corridor end to end.
Price data source: publicly listed wholesale prices on mainstream B2B platforms, collected on 2026-10-18. These are reference ranges only — actual transaction prices vary significantly with order quantity and customization requirements. For full methodology, see Understanding Reference Prices.
The Five-Class Corridor
| Product Class | Reference Range | Band Logic |
|---|---|---|
| Quick-Dry Gym Shorts | 3.00 – 12.00 | Blank polyester mesh at 500-piece volume; premium zip-pocket and branded custom designs at the top |
| Sublimation Soccer Jerseys | 3.00 – 12.90 | Blank sublimation jerseys at 100-piece volume; full custom team sets with individual names and numbers at the top |
| Training Joggers | 4.50 – 16.00 | Woven quick-dry sweatpants at 500-piece volume; two-piece jogger tracksuit sets at the top |
| Seamless Yoga Leggings | 4.50 – 15.00 | Standard nylon-spandex seamless builds; premium high-waist designs at the top |
| Basketball Uniform Sets | 5.00 – 16.50 | Blank sublimated sets at 10-piece volume; full custom reversible and embroidered sets at the top |
The Customization-Depth Ladder
Every band in this category decomposes the same way — and the decomposition is the sourcing strategy:
- Floor (blank volume): unbranded blanks at high MOQ. Gym shorts at $3.00–4.40 (500-piece tier), joggers at $4.50–5.35 (500-piece), soccer jerseys at $3–5.50.
- Middle (house customization): supplier-standard prints, popular colorways, small-batch flexibility — typically 1.5–2× the blank floor.
- Ceiling (full custom): individual names and numbers, embroidery, reversible sets, zip pockets, premium pattern grading — reaching $12–16.50 across the classes.
The practical read: your unit price is mostly a decision about how much customization you order, not about which factory you pick. Two buyers sourcing the same jersey at $4 and $12 are both getting market price — for different products.
The MOQ Axis Runs the Other Way
Activewear pricing is also the clearest demonstration of the inverse MOQ relationship in our dataset. Shorts showed it in a single product family: blanks at $3.00–4.40 with a 500-piece floor, mesh variants at $3.99–5.40 with a 50-piece floor, and branded-custom builds at $8–12 at 100 pieces. Low MOQ is itself a purchased feature — you are paying the factory to keep its line flexible. If your program can aggregate volume, the corridor’s floor is genuinely available; if you need 50 pieces per SKU, budget the middle.
Strip Out the Replicas Before Benchmarking
One contamination warning our sampling team documented at unusual scale: on soccer and basketball keywords, roughly a third of listings were replica fan jerseys (“Thai quality” club reproductions at $2.99–15) — a retail-resale channel, not an OEM supply base. They were all excluded from these bands. If your own searches blend replica listings with blank-jersey listings, your benchmark is noise. The tell: club crests, player names, and no customization language anywhere in the listing.
What the Bands Don’t Capture
Apparel pricing is fabric-first, and listings under-specify: polyester/nylon/spandex ratios, GSM weight, and stitch quality can move the true unit cost 30–50% inside a single listing band. Our category notes flag two sub-classes — men’s compression shirts and sports bras — where listing density was too thin for a defensible band, so no reference price was published rather than a weak one. If your program needs them, request re-sampling rather than extrapolating from adjacent products.
Budget Scenarios
- Private-label basics brand: blanks at volume across shorts and joggers; $3–6 unit zone, spend on fit grading and packaging.
- Team-sports custom shop: the $5–16.50 uniform bands; MOQ 10–100 is your natural habitat, and names/numbers are your product, not a cost.
- Yoga/fashion athletic line: $4.50–9.90 seamless core with premium designs at $12–15; fabric spec and waistband construction are where repeat customers are won.
Caveats
All figures are ex-factory-style listing prices excluding shipping, duties, sampling, and testing. This batch is a single-platform snapshot — cross-check against Alibaba listings before high-volume commitments — and fabric-cost cycles move the corridor within quarters. Re-validate before each season’s program.
