Product Overview
Greenhouse film has two jobs that pull against each other: survive intense UV for multiple seasons, then disappear benignly at end of life. Conventional LDPE wins the first and fails the second; biodegradable constructions invert the trade-off. The engineering content is the stabilizer package — hindered-amine light stabilizers and co-additives sized to the target service life — and honesty about the tension: every month of added UV stability works against rapid biodegradation afterward, so a “three-season biodegradable film” embodies a specific negotiated compromise, not a free lunch. Specifications should therefore state both sides explicitly: service life in local UV conditions (high-altitude and tropical sites age film far faster than temperate ones) and the end-of-life claim with its test basis. At 100–200 µm, films also carry thermal (IR retention) and light-diffusion options per crop program. Manufacturers listed here formulate per climate zone, quote transmission and diffusion spectra, and support greenhouse operators with replacement-cycle planning based on measured local degradation data.
