Product Overview
The solid carbon rod is the model engineer’s structural element of choice: 100% unidirectional fiber in an epoxy matrix gives the highest axial stiffness and strength per gram available in this diameter class, which is why RC wing spars, pushrods and tail booms are carbon rods by default. Diameters from about 0.5 mm (linkages, micro models) to 10 mm (large wing spars, truss members) cover the hobby and light-industrial range, supplied in continuous lengths or cut and mitered to plan. The working limitation is transverse strength: drilling, threading and side loading exploit the rod’s weakest direction, so control connections should use bonded inserts or cross-pinned joints designed for the purpose rather than tapped threads in the rod itself. Manufacturers listed here hold straightness tolerances across production lots — critical for spar alignment — and support kit manufacturers with cut-to-length programs, diameter assortments and private-label packaging.
