Product Overview
Carbon tent poles shave grams that aluminum cannot, and the best products manage the two failure modes the format carries. The first is UV: the epoxy matrix chalks and loses toughness under sustained sunlight, so outdoor-duty poles require a UV-resistant topcoat and ideally pigmented or opaque finishes — a cosmetic choice that is actually a service-life specification. The second is galvanic corrosion: carbon fiber is electrically active against aluminum, and wet carbon-to-aluminum joints corrode in the field, so ferrules and tips must be isolated (anodizing alone is not enough; physical separation or inert interfaces are the standard practice). With those two handled, pultruded poles deliver excellent flexural performance at around half the weight of equivalent aluminum — with the honest caveat that carbon fails more suddenly than the ductile bending aluminum users know, so section sizing should respect wind and snow margins. Manufacturers listed here produce pole sets with ferrules, tips and elastic-cord assembly, custom diameters and lengths per tent pattern, and private-label programs for outdoor brands.
