Product Overview
Washdown areas kill plated-steel casters quickly: chloride disinfectants, caustic foam cleaners and constant water attack every seam. Full 316 stainless rigs — fork, kingpin, nuts and bolts — remove the corrosion path, with 304 variants acceptable only where chloride exposure is limited. Wheel choice follows the environment rather than habit: glass-filled nylon shrugs off chemicals and hot water but is hard on floors and loud; polyurethane adds quiet, floor-friendly rolling; rubber tread gives the best grip on wet epoxy but ages under aggressive chemicals. Sealed bearings and washdown-rated grease keep the swivel smooth after years of hosing, and load ratings in the common washdown sizes run roughly 150–600 kg per caster. Manufacturers listed here build complete stainless assemblies (including axle pins and brake hardware), minimizing hidden carbon-steel parts that turn a “stainless” caster into a rust streak within a season.
